Today's couples have the opportunity to choose to have their weddings in special places. One such venue is Walt Disney World.

Besides being a number one travel destinations in the United States, Walt Disney World offers more than rides and attractions. Since 1991 Walt Disney World has offered couples the opportunity to be married on the grounds. Getting married at Walt Disney World can be as intimate or as grand as the bride and groom prefer.

Places to Get Married at Walt Disney World

Once limited to one of four Walt Disney World destinations (The Magic Kingdom, The Polynesian Resort, The Grand Floridian, or the Disney Pavilion), couples can now be married at any multiple Disney resorts and parks. Depending on the couple’s vision, Disney wedding consultants will help design a wedding package to accommodate the couple’s needs.

One of the most expensive options is getting married at the Magic Kingdom. This ceremony will cost well over $100,000. The park has to be cleared out, allowing the wedding couple and guests to have the castle area to themselves. This also means that the wedding can only occur in the evening hours. The teacup ride is open to the couple and guests after the ceremony.

Wedding Packages at Walt Disney World

In order to get married at Walt Disney World, couples must purchase a wedding package. This includes the ceremony, flowers, cake, champagne, live musician, and hotel room at a minimum. The least expensive package is around $5,000 and includes the aforementioned.

While each package is a bit different, couples can choose to add à la carte services. Examples can include renting the Cinderella coach with white ponies, which is around $5,000; renting Disney characters to attend the wedding, which is around $500 a character; and hiring photographers and videographers, which ranges in price. Wedding packages increase in price when a reception is added to the ceremony package.

Guest Services to the Bride and Groom

Walt Disney World is renowned for excellent service to their guests. This is especially true for brides and grooms. Many couples purchase Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears, "Just Married" buttons, or T-shirts, which have been known to get couples front row seats on rides, free food, and immediate seating on rides. Floral arrangements and champagne sometimes are sent to the couple’s room from Disney. The top tier of the couple's wedding cake is specially packaged and frozen for the couple to take home.

Couple who purchase the honeymoon photography package will receive special treatment at the Magic Kingdom. The photographer has carte blanche to all areas of the Magic Kingdom, except for inside of Cinderella’s castle. Couples can be photographed in the garden outside of the castle where other visitors are not permitted to enter. Also, upon seeing the Disney photographer, many Disney characters will circle around the bride and groom to set up the perfect honeymoon photograph.

A Walt Disney World wedding is truly a special occasion that can set one’s wedding apart from others. The ceremony can be intimate with only the bride and groom or as many as 100 or so guests. Each wedding is tailored to the couple’s preferences along with the Disney Wedding Coordinator. For any girl who wished to be Cinderella on her wedding day, the Disney Fairy Tale Wedding can be a dream come true.

Kerrie Troseth :
I wrote this article and wanted readers to know that I had a Disney wedding. Back in 1996 I was married at the Polynesian Resort with Cinderella's castle in the background. We had a guitar player who played the theme to Beauty and Beast. It was just my husband and I, but it was so intimate and memorable. I hope to return soon to renew our vows!!
