Target, one the nation's top retailers, has generated a hot toy list for Christmas 2010. Their website highlights popular trends in gift giving for children of all ages. This year's hot toy list for girls includes games, dolls, and stuffed animals.
Game Gift Ideas for Girls
One of the hottest games of the year is Loopz. This modern day Simon Electronic Handheld Game entices participants to live the game. Based on memorizing sequences, the Loopz is an unusually shaped item with four opened chambers, or loops. Each loop is designated a light color and sound. When the Loopz lights up a chamber, the participant inserts their hand through the loop. A motion detector senses if the participant sequenced correctly. The game gets faster as it progresses.
Also based on an old favorite, the Bop-It Bounce is a newer version of a Paddle Ball. Instead of a wooden paddle and rubber ball, this game has a cone-like paddle and a special, unattached ball. The Bop-It Bounce contains a voice command that tells the child the manner to bounce the ball. For example, one can continually bounce the ball on the paddle and the voice indicator will count the hits. The Bop-It Bounces houses five additional paddle games.
Bananagrams is another new game based on another game. In this case, the game is Scrabble. The game revolves around participants using letter tiles to build their own words. The game does not have a game board, so children build up their own words on a flat surface. Participants must take additional tiles throughout the game and add the tiles to their previous words. Once a player uses up all of their allotted tiles, they are declared the winner.
Doll Gift Ideas for Girls
Barbie is still a perennial favorite among girls. This year is no different. The newest Barbie is called Video Girl and sells for around $50. The concept of the doll is to create videos by using the doll. Embedded in the doll is a video camera and the lens is located on the doll’s necklace. Girls simply press the play button on the doll and the recording starts. The video can easily be uploaded to a computer. Mattel offers downloadable video software to create and edit videos. Also available is the new 2010 Holiday Barbie Doll.
Stuffed Animal Gift Ideas for Girls
The FurReal Friends Gogo My Walkin’ Pup is an animated stuff animal. In addition to wagging its tail and barking, the dog will walk with the child. The item comes with a leash that is actually a remote control. As the child walks, the dog will also walk.
